Our Lawn Care division not only specializes in lawn care, but in flea & tick, and mosquito control as well. We are fully licensed and insured having provided these services since 2001. Our certified applicators have years of successful hands-on experience and go through extensive training to maintain their eligibility with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC).
As you are aware, applying the appropriate chemicals are vitally important in maintaining a healthy landscape environment. We at Hazel Services take pride in the quality of our work. We believe that with our lawn care program you can achieve optimal lawn and plant growth, keeping your grounds green and vibrant throughout the year. We strive for perfection and to meet the expectations of all personnel we service. Our lawn care program includes fertilization, weed control, grub control, insect control, and Lime.
Renovating your lawn can be a difficult task, but it is one that will have a tremendous impact on the appearance of your property. Our team of experts will bring life back to your lawn whether you require seeding or a sod installation. We also offer aeration and thatching.
Your soil supplies some of the nutrients that grass needs but most soils are not able to provide all of them during the entire growing season. A healthy and actively growing lawn uses a great deal of energy. Fertilizer helps your lawn stay healthy by promoting new leaf and root growth. Fertilizing your lawn will keep it looking thick, vibrant with color, free of weeds, and more resistant to disease.
Weeds are an unwelcome sight for any property owner. Even a single weed can alter the appearance of a well-maintained lawn, and new weeds are usually quick to follow. With Hazel’s weed control and pre-emergent weed control services, you’ll be able to eliminate the most common and most stubborn weeds in your area. Some common weeds include:
Grassy Weeds: These weeds thrive under the same conditions as your lawn’s grass. They include weeds like crabgrass, goose grass, nutsedge, and yellow foxtail.
Warm-Season Weeds: These weeds thrive during warm summer months.
Cool-Season Weeds: Cool-season weeds are most widespread in the spring and fall.
Annual Weeds: Annual weeds die off naturally at the end of their yearly growing cycle, but can sprout 4-5 times before that happens.
Perennial Weeds: These pesky weeds come back year after year until treated or removed.
Grubs are the larval stage of beetles that can infest and damage a lawn area. The most common types are Japanese beetles and chafers. They live in the top 3-4 inches under your lawn and feed on the roots of the grass. Often times you don’t know you have a grub problem until it is too late. Heavily infested turf first appears a gray-green off color and wilts in the hot sun. These infestations usually appear in oddly shaped and oddly sized patches among healthy plants, creating an unsightly contrast. The tunneling nature of the grubs causes the turf to feel soft, and it is easily rolled back since the deep roots are consumed first. Grub populations also attract skunks, raccoons, opossums and moles as they can hear the grub activity. They dig into the turf in search of a meal thus causing further damage.
One of the most common pests any property owner can encounter is insects. Our team will assess your property and determine the appropriate treatment. The treatment will then be applied around plants to protect them from being eaten, as well as along buildings to keep insects out.
Soils are classified according to their pH level. A soil pH of 7 is neutral, a soil pH above 7 is alkaline, and a soil pH less than 7 is acidic. Lime helps “sweeten” the soil. It brings the soil pH closer to the desired range. The benefits of this are improved lawn color and density, and increased root development. A correct soil pH will free up soil nutrients and greatly increase the response of fertilizers and other products Hazel uses on your lawn to keep it healthy and green.
